So here’s my chapter 2 of my story so far. Trainings going well and I’m smashing out 8 miles runs (non stop as well)! I never thought this time last year I’d EVER get to this point. I was drinking pretty much every day, smoking, my diet was terrible and I was suffering badly from anxiety. Who knew exercise got rid of all of that! Only joking, of course I did. I was just so stuck in a rut of drinking and being hungover I could never be bothered. If there’s any advice I’d give my younger self it would be to stop drinking so much!
And now a year on I've stopped smoking and I'm writing blogs about marathon training and protein brownies! Incredible!!
Now, probably as everyone else is, I am big time struggling to resist temptation at this time of year, especially when it comes to sweet things. So I decided to make some Chocolate Brownies to cure my craving. However, as I really don't want to ruin my diet and to help with all those with allergens and who are Vegan, I decided to make Vegan Protein Chocolate Brownies. They are naturally dairy free and gluten free as well. I know what you’re probably thinking, is it taste free, but I can promise they aren't. If anything they are better than shop bought and completely guilt free! They are so good you have to make them yourselves.
I’ve been very fortunate enough to be able to try JST Nutrition's new Vegan Protein. I’ve tried and tested with other Protein ranges and I can honestly say that JST Nutrition is THE BEST range that’s out there for quality and taste and perfect for this recipe. I’ve been using their protein from the beginning of my training and it's helped me with my diet, my recovery and the ease of being able to put on muscle. And what I've found it that you don’t always have to have it as a shake. You can mix a little water and make a mousse, add berries, nuts, whatever you like. It’s incredible! Or you can use it to make yummy protein brownies. So here’s the recipe.
Recipe (makes 4 good size portions)
2 ripe bananas (the riper the better, as they are sweeter)
1 apple chopped
30g cocoa powder
60g almond butter
3 scoops of JVegan Protein (Chocolate)
Coconut Oil for greasing dish
1. Preheat oven to 180 celcius (fan)
2. Slice banana and chop apple. Place into food processor with all the other ingredients and mix until all the ingredients are combined.
3. Grease a loaf tin with the coconut oil and spoon in the mixture.
4. Place in the oven and bake for 18-20 minutes. They might seem slightly underdone but once they've cooled they'll be fine.
5. Turn onto a plate and stand to cool down. Cut into slices
6. Eat and enjoy!
